After spending a great time at home with family and friends for Christmas and New Year, I flew back to Puerto Rico to meet up with our daughter Gabryel. Douglas stayed another week in Nova Scotia to wrap up his work. The property around the marina is a well developed condo resort and golf course with a nice beach and pool. Not a bad place to be stuck!

For the first few days Gab and I concentrated on cleaning the boat, provisioning and getting the boat ready to accommodate living again with a working fridge and such.We also took the opportunity of having a clean boat to take some great pictures of the inside.

After the boat was in tip top shape we rented a car and struck out across the island exploring. We did one day of beach hunting and ended up in some pretty amazing places traveling from the southern east side up to the northern east side. Some of the beaches were more like adventure hiking to get to and others were easily accessible with miles of white sand and cool blue water.

After our beach day we decided to do some hiking, so we drove up to the rainforest area. Gabryel had seen some pictures on social media of a place that was literally on top of the mountain that she wanted to go to. It looked like there was a road there, so I agreed. It turned out that the road was actually a hiking trail and we spent a few hours trekking up the face of a mountain basically. It was hot and exhausting but beautiful and we had a lot of fun.

After several canceled and delayed flights Douglas finally made it back just as some poor weather was setting in. So we had more days to explore; we rented a car and went on a waterfall adventure. We picked one at random from Google maps, and it ended up being a few hours walk through absolute mud to a fantastic swimming hole with a rope swing. We had an absolute blast, and all the mud washed off eventually.
